How to pick a good Twitch name
- Keep it short and sayable. If a raider can't spell it after hearing it once, you're losing follows. Aim for 12 characters or fewer.
- Avoid trend-locked names. A name tied to one game ages badly the moment you switch categories.
- Check every platform. Grab the same handle on Twitch, YouTube, TikTok and X, even if you don't use them yet.
- Skip the leetspeak unless it's the joke. x_D4rkSn1per_x reads as 2009. If you use numbers, make them intentional (like a lucky number), not a workaround.
Twitch username rules
Usernames must be 4–25 characters, using letters, numbers and underscores only. You can change your username once every 60 days in your Twitch settings, and your old name is held for you for a while before being recycled.
