Tags are limited to 25 characters, letters and numbers only (no spaces) — everything above is already compliant.
Do Twitch tags actually matter?
Yes — tags power Twitch's filter system. When a viewer filters the Just Chatting directory by "ASMR" or a game directory by "FirstPlaythrough", only tagged streams appear. For small streamers, niche filters are far less competitive than the main directory: being one of six "NoBackseating" Elden Ring streams beats being stream #4,000 in the general list.
Tag strategy that works
Use all 10 slots. There's no penalty and every tag is another filter you appear in.
Mix broad and niche. A couple of high-traffic tags (English, Chill) plus specific ones (SoulsLike, SpeedRun) covers both discovery paths.
Match reality. Tagging "Giveaway" without one erodes trust and can get reported.
